Your Opportunity

Does playing the critical role of winning, delivering, and managing projects while ensuring we provide results that are above and beyond our client’s expectations, appeal to you? Stantec’s Environmental Services Group is seeking a highly driven and dynamic leader to become our next Regional Business Leader (RBL) for the Mountain Region . With responsibility for the leadership of Environmental Services, including health and safety performance, financial performance, client satisfaction, staff engagement and delivery of key elements of our strategic plan in the Mountain Region you will report directly to the Business Leader for Environmental Services in United States.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) leadership in the form of awareness, training and leading indicator activity goals for our journey to zero incidents.

  • Accountability for financial performance within the region to meet our top and bottom line budget each financial period, delivering on the key elements of our strategic plan.

  • Working with Business and Operating Leaders to proactively drive business performance and influence the bottom line by creating accountability around days sales outstanding (DSO), asset management, project health, variance analysis, and monitoring leading indicators.

  • Leading the region and supporting business leadership with budgeting, forecasting, marketing and business development (MB&D) return on investment, compensation and bonus cycle, workforce management, discretionary spend and pricing.

  • Being personally involved in key client relationships, leading accounts, and strategic project pursuits in the region.

  • Leading the delivery of significant regional project pursuits playing active roles such as project manager, director, sponsor, and independent reviewer as required.

  • Building, growing, and developing a high performing engaged team across your region that is suited to the longer-term mission and goals of the business and supports attainment of organic growth targets.

  • Collaborating as one team with Regional Leaders (RLs), Sector Leaders (SLs), Account Managers (AMs), Technical Discipline Leaders (TDLs), Regional Growth Leaders (RGL) and Business Center (BC) Leaders in ES and across other business operating units (BOUs) to work seamlessly with peers for overall Stantec success.

  • Leading and be actively involved with Indigenous Business relationships based in the Mountain region, including partnerships with Indigenous businesses and communities and associated operations and project execution.

  • Partnering with corporate leadership, Environmental Services senior leadership, regional leadership and functional services to inspire, motivate and hold teams accountable for the delivery of innovative solutions.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Responsible for the health and safety performance of the business line within their region, including monitoring leading and lagging indicators and following up on business center improvement plans. This includes meeting the leading indicator goals set by the environmental business line, a total recordable incident rate of < 0.60, and a total injury rate of < 0.45.

  • Achieve budgeted goals for business performance through net revenue, utilization, project margin, asset management, general and administration costs, marketing and business development costs, and operating income.

  • Achieve employee engagement score target.

  • Exceed a 95% success rate for project management framework compliance as measured by internal practice audits.

  • Achieve assigned client survey target.

  • Meet personal utilization goal of > 20%

  • Attract and retain suitable business center staff and leadership with voluntary turnover < 10%.

  • Targeted quarterly visits and ongoing communication of vision and business strategy with office locations within the geographic area of responsibility.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree related to the Environmental Services business line. Master’s degree preferred.

  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience, including extensive leadership experience within a large organization, business line optimization, and a background in consulting in the environmental services sector.

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of a win-do-manage-innovate business model.

Working Conditions

  • Need to reside or able to relocate to/within an Environmental Services business center in the ES Mountain region.

  • Ability to travel to Stantec clients and offices.

  • It is the expectation that all leadership roles have a maximum term of 5 years, with the opportunity to reevaluate at the end of the term and for the purpose of succession and company growth.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • 185800 - 288100 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL

  • 196300 - 304400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
