Job Description

The purpose of this job is to perform semi-skilled tasks in vehicle maintenance.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates and repairs tires for city fleet.

  • Maintains inventory of repaired tires for fleet.

  • Cleans and maintains workspace.

  • Assists coworkers as needed.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience(

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered):

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Some experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with no air brake restriction within 6 months of hire.

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Safety protocols and procedures.

  • Standard practices and methods of tire maintenance and repair.

  • Basic mechanic skills and vehicle repair.

Skill in:

  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory.

  • Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.

  • Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.

  • Operating motor vehicles.

Ability to:

  • Use and maintain hand and power tools.

  • Maintain attention to detail.

  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
