Aerotek Quality Assurance Technician in Columbia, South Carolina

Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician (Must have UT Certification)

Job Description

Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

  • Select products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and test products for various qualities such as dimensions, performance, or mechanical characteristics.

  • Record test data, applying standard operating procedures.

  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

  • Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.

  • Enter data into computer for analysis.

  • Observe in-process operations to ensure compliance with customer specifications for manufacturing, such as pre-heating pipe, hydro testing, and roundness.

  • Perform visual inspection of finished goods to ensure compliance with customer specifications.

  • Calibrate lab equipment to conform to legal and manufacturing requirements as needed.

  • Coordinate calibrations of production equipment, QA tests, and NDE equipment as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Quality assurance and inspection

  • Ability to use tape measure, micrometer, computer system, calculator, and lab test equipment (tensile, hardness, milling machine, band saw, etc.)

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

  • Ability to write simple correspondence

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations

  • Ability to compute basic arithmetic problems and accurately operate a calculator

  • Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Ability to enter data into existing computer software, following on-screen prompts or written instructions

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of welding processes

  • Experience as a welder is preferred

Work Environment

1st shift: Monday to Friday, 6am - 4pm. 2nd shift: Monday to Friday, 4pm - 2:30am. Hours may vary depending on whether working 10-hour or 8-hour shifts for the week. Detailed schedules will be provided in advance.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Columbia, South Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $44720.00/yr.
