Job Title: Team Lead

Job Description

The Team Lead is a crucial individual on the shop floor, responsible for ensuring all resources are prepared for production, adhering to standards, identifying and resolving issues, training employees, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and motivating team members.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production readiness by verifying that employees are trained, materials, tooling, machines, documents, and PPE are in place.

  • Step into production roles as needed to meet objectives.

  • Ensure adherence to standards and processes, including process sequence, quality checks, 5S standards, and material flow standards.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on all production process-related topics.

  • Manage deviations and KPIs related to quality and production output.

  • Collect and report data to the Team Leader.

  • Lead shift meetings and present results to team members.

  • Improve alert systems for issues (Andon) and escalate unresolved problems to the Team Leader.

  • Develop visualization standards and find better ways to follow them.

  • Analyze waste and regularly observe processes to identify improvements.

  • Use PDCA and simple problem-solving techniques to address root causes and solve problems with the team.

  • Employ 5S methodology to improve productivity and reduce process variation.

  • Optimize layout for material, process, and people flow.

  • Utilize Training within Industry (TWI) techniques to train team members and increase their knowledge.

  • Engage with team members and show appreciation for their efforts.

Essential Skills

  • Production lead or leadership qualities (military experience is acceptable)

  • Manufacturing experience

  • Machine operating skills

  • Quality inspection and documentation skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in CNC/machine operating

  • Strong leadership qualities and characteristics

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies

Why Work Here?

After 90 days, all employees will receive a $1 increase upon conversion to full-time status. At six months of active service, employees will receive a $550 bonus. Insurance is available at the start of the month following full-time date of hire, with HSA and PPO plans offered. Pro-rated vacation is provided upon conversion to full-time status based on start date. Employees can earn a $75 monthly perfect attendance bonus and personal days based on quarterly perfect attendance. The company offers a 401K with matching 50% (up to a 6% max), company-paid life insurance, and short-term disability coverage. Additionally, there is a $2 shift premium for second and third shifts, company-paid uniforms (after conversion), and safety shoe/glass vouchers after the probationary period is complete.

Work Environment

This position is within a manufacturing environment, specifically on the 2nd shift from 2pm to 10:30pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
