Description

The Billing/Collecting Specialist is an essential member of the Business Office at Mount Carmel Behavioral Health, an 80-bed acute inpatient setting for adult men and women who have been experiencing a wide range of mental and/or behavioral health challenges. Mount Carmel Behavioral Health is a joint partnership between Acadia Healthcare and Mount Carmel Health System, 80-bed hospital in Columbus, OH, that provides inpatient and outpatient treatment for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with a mental health concern or a dual diagnosis. The Billing/Collecting Specialist will serve as a financial team member ensuring proper recording and follow up of insurance and reimbursement for all patient accounts.

Functions include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely data entry of charges, payments, adjustments and other transactions to patient accounts as required to include both insurance and patient billing for charges incurred.

  • Responsible for timely follow-up to insurance companies on billing submitted in order to allow for an effective and efficient cash flow of hospital receivables.

  • Request and process all bills to third party payors and patients, maximizing re-imbursement of services provided to achieve established hospital goals.

  • Record both A/R and miscellaneous cash.

  • Retrieve and perform electronic billing to insurance companies in a timely manner.
