The Opportunity

Our location in Columbus, OH currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Transportation Solutions & Analytics in our Nutrition Supply Chain Division.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE :

The main responsibility of the role is to develop and execute transportation capacity solutions in both near-term and long-term horizons, co-owning the carrier relationship in regards: rate negotiation following established procurement process, recurrent performance issues addressing, new carriers’ development and innovative solutions implementation. This position will be also responsible for coordinating and executing planned bid activities in collaboration with Procurement. In addition, the manager should implement and maintain Transportation compliance metrics using various analytical tools that translates raw data into valuable business insights. These compliance metrics and reports will reflect transportation planned volumes per lane / region and carrier relative to actual volumes and lane-level load acceptance rates. Lastly, carrier service metrics and spend will also be a critical focus for this role to support the execution of business objectives.

The individual will be a support mechanism to the Operations team and will work in close collaboration with the Manager, Transportation Operations to drive both near-term and long-term business initiatives and deliverables. Focus will be balanced between capacity, service, and rate and compliance of those focus areas.

What You’ll Work On

  • Lead and execute contract negotiations as well as rate negotiations.

  • Manage and co-lead relationships with all service providers.

  • Solves for all capacity needs and all adjustments to static schedules.

  • Develop and lead implementation of metrics to deliver continuous improvement in service, rate, and capacity as well as metrics that support the evaluation of Planners.

  • Manage the compliance performance of Transportation Operations and its service providers through the establishment of processes and analytics developing and using clearly defined metrics.

  • Maintain oversight responsibility for transportation and carrier compliance metrics.

  • Recommend award changes for non-compliance to capacity or service expectations while balancing impact of rate on spend.

  • Owns Dedicated fleet KPIs, weekly meetings with providers, and report out to leadership on fleet performance.

  • Regularly checks routing guide to expectations to assure continuous alignment.

  • Coordinate and execute all pricing events to include but not limited to the alignment of timelines, lanes, capacity needs, providers to include, lane award decisions, overall spend by carrier, and final implementation with carriers.

  • Support vetting and onboarding of new carriers including administering 30-60-90 day onboarding plans

  • Supports Management Operating System (MOS) to include Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Monthly Business Reviews, and Compliance Reviews to include Capacity, Service, and Rate

  • Drive execution and performance, identify, and raise issues or areas of opportunity to include carrier performance improvement plans.

  • Adhere to Routing Guide update guidelines and lane award parameters.

  • Establishes and drives compliance to SOPs both internally and externally with carriers; supports transportation QA initiatives.

  • Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve service to meet and exceed business objectives; support strategic projects that have a network-wide impact.

  • Effectively leverages the Operations Manager to share ideas leading to improved efficiencies and service.

  • Fosters a team environment and engages providers to drive superior performance and award compliance.

  • Provides support for future distribution and network changes, system configuration changes, and new service provider onboarding.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics, Operations, or Supply Chain

Preferred:

  • 5-10 plus years in Transportation or Logistics leadership role with concentration on carrier compliance and analysis

  • Experience with and applied knowledge of end-to-end supply chain including transportation, customer service, and financial aspects; dedicated fleet management experience.

  • Attention to detail and organization/ documentation skills.

  • Experience working with transportation planning and execution systems from providers such as Blujay with a strong knowledge of SAP.

  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Advanced Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • Experience building reports using tools such as Cognos and Microsoft Power BI, a plus.

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work in and across cross functional teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working with and influencing team members to achieve goals.

  • Passion for supply chain management and improving supply chain efficiencies.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities at once and manage time appropriately.

  • Communicate effectively and build relationships with representatives from cross-functional teams.

  • Strong organization skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally.

  • Experience with Lean, a plus

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
