PIONEER TRAILS RPC Transportation Planner in Concordia, Missouri

Nature of

Work

Under the supervision of the executive director, the Transportation Planner is responsible for the day-to-day operation and coordination of planning efforts related to Regional Transportation Planning. Regional Transportation Planning consists of road network needs identification and verification, Highway safety and condition grant opportunities, and grass root coalition initiation and maintenance. In addition, Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies, and community grant applications assistance duties and responsibilities are included involving the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission. Responsibilities performed on a daily and/or weekly basis include:

  • Provide information and programs on current transportation issues facing local governments.
  • Analyze and research on various MoDOT and USDOT or other transportation planning opportunities.
  • Develop and implement training programs to meet federal and state opportunities concerning transportation planning.
  • Seek and secure funding for meeting transportation needs of the region.
  • Develops training presentations, programs and seminars concerning transportation planning opportunities in the region.
  • Serve as a liaison between Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission, state, and local governments working on economic development, and other transportation issues.
  • Maintain region's transportation plan.
  • Provide administrative support to Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission creating meeting agenda, minutes, and other materials required to ensure productive board meetings.
  • Assists in analyzing and researching various grant opportunities.
  • Assists in implementing existing MoDOT and other grant programs.
  • Preparing progress reports for state and federal grant programs.
  • Represent Pioneer Trails during regional coalition, committee, and governmental opportunities.
  • Travel to locations throughout the state, and occasional out-of-state to represent Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission and its interests.
  • Performance of any other tasks assigned.
