Role Summary

Here at Parker Meggitt, we’re looking for a seasoned Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer who will successfully manage equipment installation, operation and process development within the AM cell in addition to supporting continuous improvement, process optimisation and establishment of best practice. The right person for this role will hit the ground running and will be adept at setting priorities and working with teammates to collaboratively achieve end goals with the overall objective of raising Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) to enable production ready solutions for divisional use.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and test additive manufacturing process and post-processing procedures for future aerospace production application with a strong bias to design-and test:

  • Processes: laser powder bed fusion, de-powdering, heat treatment, inspection, fixturing, machining, and material analysis

  • Create supporting CAD, drawings, hand-calculations, analysis, and justifications

  • Lead gate reviews for pending improvements

  • Responsible for HSE within the AM cell

  • Contribute to continuously improving standard and proprietary processes targeted at capability, quality and efficiency gains

  • Implementation of processes and procedures critical to meeting AS, AMS, and NADCAP certifications

  • Determine and implement equipment upgrades and insertions to the AM cell

    Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

    Essential

  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and quality assurance procedures

  • Ability to specify measurements to quantify quality of manufacturing output and associated data processing techniques

  • Ability to create specific instructions and procedures

  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task, with strong prioritisation skills and decision-making skills

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

  • Intermediate level knowledge of PC software applications and strong understanding of PC operating systems

    Preferred

  • Ideally some knowledge of six sigma and/or lean manufacturing techniques
