Raybestos Power Train Operator in Crawfordsville, Indiana

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the employees who work within this area at Raybestos may work under the following job titles:

  • Etching Machinist
  • Blanking Sheer Press
  • Sanding Operator
  • Banding Operator
  • Bonding Operator
  • Adhesive Wafer Grinding
  • Mix Operator

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Loading/Unloading machines with finished product and raw materials
  • Packing finished product on pallets
  • Accessing materials from pallets/bins
  • Loading parts on racks
  • Wrapping parts
  • Lifting parts
  • Push carts of finished product to finished staging area
  • Retrieving products from staging area for the next process
  • Lifting bags of material
  • Scooping materials
  • Handling hoists
  • Carrying materials
  • Shoveling materials onto trays (on rack system)

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Replacing wrapping paper
  • Placing plastic into bins for shipping
  • General Housekeeping duties, which involves shoveling, sweeping
  • Vacuuming

WORK SCHEDULE: Employees work 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday. Three shifts are available; 11pm to 7am, 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm. Employees have a 20-minute paid lunch break and two 10-minute breaks. Employees can be mandated up to 2 hours of OT twice a week, and up to every other weekend.

Employees may rotate through various tasks within the Operator's job classification. If the Operator has a license they are also allowed to drive the fork truck within their area.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The operators work in a warehouse type facility with overhead lights, concrete floors with no heat or cooling regulation, so the summers are hot and temperature during the winter is maintained with the machines. Temperature extremes are common. The employees are exposed to the noise from the machinery and the fumes from the various processes within the cells. The employees are exposed to equipment such as fork lift and exposed to dust and particulates in the air.
