Your Role

The Occupational Inclusion Specialist (OIS) work with employers across a geographical area delivering support, advice and guidance on appropriate occupational support interventions to enable transition into secure, suitable and sustainable employment. They take the initiative to provide education and support to employers, as agreed with the participant which may include negotiating adjustments, return to work strategy and on-going contact with the employer to ensure job retention.

Location: This role is a mixture of being office-based and outreach. You will cover both Crewe & Macclesfield (expenses covered outside of base-office).

Salary: £30,900.

Driving license & own car are essential for this role.

Your Responsibilities

  • Designing employer route-ways with diverse support needs being considered

  • Identifying employment and other work-related opportunities with employers through marketing candidates directly into employers

  • Establishing and building relationships with key employers in the local labour market, promoting, influencing and advising on how to ensure occupations are more inclusive and accessible to those with physical and /or mental health conditions, disabilities (i.e. sensory impairments – visual, hearing and learning difficulties) and wellbeing needs

  • Undertaking pre-work assessments with participants with health-related issues.

  • Discussing interventions and support required with both the participant and employer to ensure any adjustments and considerations are implemented to support employment.

  • Liaising with access to work or other similar functions where necessary

  • Offering tailored Health and Wellbeing in-work support package to the participant and the employer.

  • Designing employer route-ways with health and well-being factors being considered

  • Identifying employment and other work-related opportunities with employers through marketing candidates directly into employers

  • Delivering performance against agreed targets including employer engagement, service, and quality.

  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders including health professionals, partnership Organisations and employers to ensure participants experience a smooth transition into employment.

  • Evolving a business-to-business offer, reviewing, and identifying opportunities to support company’s staff wellbeing initiatives e.g. training opportunities/awareness sessions for their staff

  • Encouraging employers as part of their corporate social responsibility agenda to become disability confident and to engage in initiatives such as Better Health at Work Awards

  • Use wage-grant budget to help incentivise employers to take on participants with complex needs

Your Skills and Experience

  • Ability to embrace our company values which are Kindness, Respect, Integrity, and Innovation!

  • Demonstratable previous experience supporting those with health issues back to work/vocational rehabilitation/occupational health

  • A great communicator who always deliver enthusiasm & confidence and driven by results gained from quality of service by putting the participant at the heart of everything

  • Awareness and understanding of health and wellbeing and disability initiatives to support individuals into employment which includes route ways, job design and adjustments

  • Understanding of employer’s needs, experience of training needs analysis and organisational needs analysis, translating these in to fit for purpose programmes and services

  • Able to adapt to difficult or challenging situations when required.

  • Empathetic and understanding of the challenges and barriers unemployed job seekers currently face

  • Able to exhibit sound judgement, initiative, and drive to self-manage to achieve performance targets

  • Resilient and determined to seek out job opportunities, coaching and motivating participants whilst working in a busy working environment

Desirable:

  • IEP Award in Employer Solutions

  • Knowledge and understanding of Supported Employment (SE) and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Models

  • A qualified (or working towards) health professional registered with either HCPC, BACP or BABCP or working towards
