Description

This is an individual contributor role. As a Linux System Administrator in Apple's Fleet Operations and Engineering team, your key responsibilities will include: Manage and maintain Apple’s big fleet of data systems running on Linux. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, collaborate with teams, analyze logs/metrics to identify root causes. Provide effective technical support to ensure high customer satisfaction. Improve processes, enhance reliability/security, develop documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ Years experience in Linux/UNIX systems administration.

  • Database Systems and technologies awareness, such as Oracle DB, Mongo DB, Postgres DB, MySQL, etc.

  • Familiarity with NAS, SAN and Network troubleshooting.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and isolating Software and Hardware issues within a Linux environment.

  • Understanding of system security.

  • Good understanding of RAID.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant experience in IT.

  • Superb time management, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Flexibility to work in shifts based on business need is required. Work hours are variable as this is a 24/7, 365 days a year environment.

  • On-call support on weekend is required.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • LPIC-1, RHCSA certification or higher

  • Linux/UNIX-related software/scripting development in one or more of the following: Python, Shell, Perl, Ruby

  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Git, or other configuration management tools.

  • Experience with revision control systems like GitHub, CI/CD unit testing.

  • Experience with KVM, Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm is a plus.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
