Synchrony AVP, Solution Architect in Dallas, Texas

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Influence many agile development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle through SAFe.

  • Analyze requirements, procedures and problem and work with teams to automate or improve existing system.

  • Implement new technologies and assist developers as they migrate to new technologies.

  • Architect applications across the full stack, experience in Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem, J2EE, Spring Java, and RESTful APIs.

  • Drive a CI/CD strategy using our Jenkins, Bitbucket, and UDeploy stack.

  • Influence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts to provide technical solutions to business problems.

  • Mentor and influence all levels of the team: in this role, you will have the opportunity to influence up and down the chain of command.

  • Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony Financial

  • Assist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy, along with our application modernization and migration roadmap.

  • Participate in Agile scrums consisting of cross-functional teams

  • Lead Agile sprints as the technical expert, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming sessions, and sprint reviews

  • Ensure application code quality through development, test, and QA

  • Participate in addressing root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in problem resolution

  • Ability to analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, and implement fixes.

  • Passionate about the latest technologies, open-source projects, and languages

  • Provide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the year

  • Identify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance

  • Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company's products

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree with modern application development experience, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Technology, 3+ years in Microservices development.

  • Working knowledge in RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.

  • Experience as an Architect for applications across the full stack, experience in Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem.

  • Build and support experience using Java, J2EE, React JS, Spring Projects - Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Cloud, Git, Maven, REST, SOAP.

  • Knowledge of Contact center technologies and expertise in design and integration of applications with Cisco and Avaya products such as: Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise (UCCE), Cisco Unified Contact Center Express UCCX, Cisco CTI Server, Cisco Unified Intelligent Contact Management Enterprise (ICM), Cisco Call Manager, Noble Dialers and Verint Recording Systems.

  • Strong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Passionate to learn and understand diversified business domains and technologies

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and frameworks

Desired Characteristics:

  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management, and external groups

  • Exposure to various caching solutions/frameworks such as Redis and Gemfire.

  • Exposure to cloud native messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ

  • Event driven architecture design patterns

  • Microservices design patterns

  • Best practices in building highly reliable, scalable APIs

  • Credit card domain knowledge.

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
