Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate the use of our growing platform within the Strategic Accounts segment of our business. As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape the strategy and enable a broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services by directly working with our key customers. Your responsibilities will include owning the technical engagement and ultimate successful production deployment of specific projects; defining implementation architectures, developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as a broad know-how about how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform; and being a subject matter expert in selected solution areas (e.g. Networking).

Key job responsibilities

As a Solutions Architect - Networking, within the Strategic Account segment, you will provide thought leadership and exceptional technical design capabilities to your customers. You will lead efforts to capture and share best-practices knowledge within the AWS solution architect community as well as with our customers. You will also gain the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with some of the brightest technical minds in the industry across the breadth of enterprise computing architecture.

You will be part of a culture of innovation where you’ll use AWS services to help our customers rapidly get their products and services to market through continuous delivery of modern solutions that are highly scalable, resilient, and elastic. You will have the opportunity to design networking for large-scale web and mobile applications using micro-services based architectures to deliver services globally and enable data-driven decision making through big data / artificial intelligence-powered analytics.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

  • 7+ years of experience architecting and implementing enterprise-scale networks or 5+ years and a Master degree in Networking or equivalent certification

  • 5+ years’ experience with network virtualization and/or software defined networks

  • 3+ years experience of IPv4 and IPv6 protocols and standards

  • 3+ years experience of layer 2 technologies, including MPLS and Ethernet

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud Technology Certification (such as Solutions Architecture, Cloud Security Professional or Cloud DevOps Engineering)

  • Experience with large-scale, distributed applications

  • Experience in a customer-facing, sales-aligned role such as consultant, solutions engineer or solutions architect

  • AWS Certification, eg. AWS Solutions Architect Associate

  • Understanding of application, server, and network security is highly desired.

  • Previous experience in hands-on operational or engineering role

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
