Product Development NVH Test Engineer

In this position...

This position requires individuals to lead testing delivery involved with setup, issue resolution, scheduling/forecasting, data acquisition, and customer interfacing. The Advanced Engineering Center (AEC) NVH testing department supports both sign-off and development test requirements. This position is located full time at AEC Dearborn facilities.

What you'll do...

This Engineer will lead daily test plan management & execution

Continuously interface with test request organizations.

Work daily with dept. test operations unit supervisors & lab technicians to carry out test plans.

Develop and maintain operational processes for the labs; work with the Vehicle Engineering, Design & Release, and Technical Specialist engineers to define/refine the testing requirements.

Lead decisions related to types of testing, fixturing, procedures, & instrumentation.

Manage lab technician assignments as well as organize lab test operations scheduling & forecasting

Analyze data, develop conclusions, make recommendations, and create reports presenting data to requesting organizations

Lead lab facility test equipment management involving acquisition, maintenance, calibration, and equipment issue identification & resolution.

Lead testing while working within dept Safety/Quality/Environmental management requirements.

Lead and support test infrastructure efficiency and modernization efforts.

You'll have...

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

4+ years' experience with NVH testing and development

2+ years of NVH data acquisition, signal processing, and analysis (FFT, Spectral Density, Coherence, & Etc…)

Even better, you may have...

M.S. or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

6+ years' experience with NVH testing and development

4+ years of Proficient in NVH data acquisition, signal processing, and analysis (FFT, Spectral Density, Coherence, & Etc…)

Proficient in NVH testing using accelerometers, microphones, wheel encoders, and other sensors.

Experienced in structural dynamics and experimental modal analysis – single- and multi- input techniques.

Familiarity with Siemens Test.Lab, PTDiag, and Polytec vibrometers

Ability to manage people and multiple projects in parallel

Excellent communication (written and oral), teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Excellent organization & documentation skills to follow through on all issues

Willing to alter schedule, when necessary, to support urgent issue resolution

Positive attitude, Self-starter
