Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

  • Designing and optimizing data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes.

  • Ensuring data quality and integrity through data validation, cleansing, and error handling.

  • Collaborating with our Data team, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver relevant data sets (e.g., for business intelligence).

  • Advise on improving existing data schemas and optimizing slow queries

  • Integrate with various third-party services for data extraction

  • Implementing data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information.

  • Automating and improving data processes and workflows for scalability and efficiency.

  • Monitoring data infrastructure for performance and reliability to address issues promptly.

  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering.

  • Documenting data pipelines, processes, and best practices for knowledge sharing.

  • Participating in data governance and compliance efforts to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Providing technical support and mentoring to junior data engineers, if applicable.

  • Continuously optimizing data architecture to support the company's evolving data needs.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making within the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Three to five years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies and expertise in data warehousing solutions, particularly AWS Redshift.

  • Experience designing and optimizing data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes.

  • Proficiency in data modeling and database management.

  • Strong programming skills ( Python, Scala, or Java )

  • Experience with data engineering concepts, ETL, and data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow and Dagster (preferred), enabling efficient workflow management and pipeline orchestration..

  • Data engineering concepts ( ETL, data pipelines )

  • Cloud technologies and frameworks ( AWS, Sagemaker and Redshift)

  • Orchestration tools (Dagster)

  • SQL and relational/non-relational databases (MongoDB, Amazon RDS/Postgres)

  • Software Engineering concepts in Version control

  • Kubernetes skills for maintaining the data infrastructure

  • Deploying models in cloud environments (preferably AWS Sagemaker)

  • Experience implementing data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information.

  • Experience automating and improving data processes and workflows for scalability and efficiency.

  • Experience monitoring data infrastructure for performance and reliability to address issues promptly.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex challenges and provide innovative solutions (Fintech Domain knowledge preferred)

Location Expectations

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00 - $136,400.00
