KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Manager, Warehouse & Logistics has two areas of focus, Inventory Control and Logistics Management. Responsible for monitoring and controlling the activities within inventory control groups ensuring efficient and profitable operations for all warehouse, stockroom, shipping and receiving functions for a low volume, high mix environment.

• Directs the daily activities of the inventory control function including shipping, receiving, inventory control, stockroom, dispatch, packaging, etc. with a focus on cost, on time delivery and quality.

• Collaborates with department managers to develop new strategies for inventory planning, information flow and customer order fulfillment. Establish strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, internal and external

• Develops information and recommendation on various programs or projects, e.g. work simplifications, cost reductions, job training, storage area layout, plant material move routes and procedures

• Issues bid proposals as needed to control and manage international freight and shipping costs.

• Responsible to understand and control demand signal volatility, increase inventory turns, and improve customer service levels

• Understands constraints in capacity, materials and facilities recommending countermeasures to achieve production goals

• Assures the effective movement of material throughout the manufacturing facility and to outside vendors as required.

• Promotes continuous improvement through lean activities and methodologies.

• Coaches and mentors staff within the materials management team. Must have the skills and capability required to supervise and manage direct reports.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION

• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or related field

• Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in inventory control, material handling, material storage and domestic / international logistics (inbound & outbound)

• 3 years' experience in people and departmental management preferred.

• Union management experience a plus.

• Proven background in material flow & storage improvements, process improvement tools, Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc.

• Outstanding analytical skills and strategic thinking capabilities

• Proven track record implementing cost reduction initiatives that result in bottom line savings

Salary Minimum: $90, 000
