Description:
What you will do :
Performs quality ultrasound procedures by utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors, as well as a knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics.
Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations. Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
Educates patients of exams being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure when necessary.
Practices proper safety in accordance with established standards.
Assesses each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam.
Observes safety precautions when handling patients, while performing examinations and while patients are in direct contact.
Demonstrates safety with chemicals when handling / disinfecting any equipment.
Performs visual inspection daily of all equipment to ensure its safety and cleanliness.
Operates 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound unit with appropriate transducers to perform and adequately ascertain the location of specific organs, with the demonstration of recorded images which reflect the appropriate calculations for accurate measurements.
Demonstrates basic patient care skills.
Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers before beginning a exam.
Qualifications:
Education and Licensure
Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with one of the following.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
If not registered, be board-eligible and become registered with ARDMS within one year of hire.
Maintains active registry status with ARDMS (30 CME’s every 3 yrs/annual payment)
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within six (6) months of hire and every three (3) years thereafter.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every two (2) years thereafter.
