Be Part of the Future of Sleep!

At Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB), we're more than a mattress company, we're a leading global sleep company with a mission to help people sleep better so they can live healthier lives. With a 150-year heritage in delivering industry-leading sleep solutions, we own iconic brands including Serta®, Beautyrest®, Simmons® and Tuft & Needle®.

Function

Serta Simmons Bedding is one of North America’s largest bedding manufacturers, the company behind the Serta, Beautyrest, Tuft & Needle and Simmons brands. Giving people great sleep is the ultimate aim of everything we do. We work tirelessly so the world can rest easy. And we’ve been doing just that for well over a century.

We’re in search of an Art Director to join our in-house creative team. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative design leader with an eye for visual details and the ability to ideate, iterate and execute a range of projects and productions. The Art Director concepts and delivers strategic design solutions that help shape the aesthetic of brands. You bring experience delivering world-class concepts across a wide range of disciplines: campaign development, product/lifestyle photography, brand identity, website design, motion and video. The Art Director brings a passion for brand consistency, graphic design, and photography. This role reports to the Creative Director and will work closely with an all-star team of copywriters, designers, producers, and partners across marketing, e-commerce and new product development.

What You'll Do:

An average day would consist of working directly with--and managing--a talented Senior Designer to develop national product launch campaigns and quarterly promotions while simultaneously collaborating with external CGI, retouching, and photo/video vendors to create the assets used in those initiatives. You’d be responsible for developing brand identities, marketing campaigns, and detailed shot lists—ultimately presenting them to the VP of Creative and Brand Marketing Partners for alignment and execution.

  • Solve for business, customer, and stakeholder requirements while building creative that is unique, stunning, and effective.

  • Grow brand awareness and revenue by collaboratively developing concepts and execute exceptional, engaging omni channel marketing campaigns, thinking across channels to create tailored content.

  • Operate with a customer-first mindset and use data and research to inform design decisions that generate increasingly effective campaigns and brand experiences.

  • Champion mentorship and development of designers, effectively providing feedback that inspires their best work.

  • Help identify and build new ways to enable the team to scale and optimize quality for recurring projects – through mechanisms like design guidelines, tools, templates and processes.

  • Work collaboratively across disciplines and multiple departments to ensure on-strategy and on-brand design execution.

  • Develop, evolve, and maintain visual brand guidelines, style guides and design templatization.

  • Deliver clear vision for projects to key leadership before presenting to the broader organization.

  • Help lead directors, photographers, illustrators, stylists, and freelance resources in the planning and execution of photo and video, both pre- and post-production.

  • Stay aware of the latest trends in design, advertising, and the home category.

What You'll Bring:

  • Atlanta- or East Coast-based preferred.

  • A BFA or BA in graphic design or similar.

  • 8+ years of experience working at a retailer, consumer brand or in an agency setting.

  • Leadership experience preferred.

  • Highly proficient in the latest design software including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.

  • On-set photography and videography art direction required.

  • Portfolio showing a range of Creative and Design excellence and expertise showcasing a mixture of capability:

  • World class brand photo and video executions.

  • Brand design system development through graphic design, typography and iconography.

  • Omni-channel brand campaigns with strong, concept driven static, video, and experiential executions.

  • You champion a creative problem-solving approach to all projects large or small.

  • Excellent verbal communication, written communication, and presentation skills.

  • You prefer a detailed brief but are resourceful enough to work without one if required.

  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization and present comfortably to leadership.

  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and prioritization skills; can be highly productive with limited direction and sometimes ambiguous challenges.

  • E-commerce experience preferred.
