The HealthEquity Intern program aims to provide accomplished students the opportunity to develop their skills while supporting the Company's strategic objectives. Candidates are able to gain real-world experience applying their classroom learnings in a dynamic business environment. They receive coaching and mentoring from an experienced people leader who directs their work and helps ensure their success. HealthEquity interns get the opportunity to sit down with HealthEquity leadership and guest speakers. This speaker series includes our CEO Scott Cutler, our Founder Steve Neeleman, and leaders with expertise in finance, wellbeing, and recruiting.
Our core Salesforce environment has been evolving since 2003, undergoing numerous changes over the past 22 years. Due to turnover and evolving development practices, much of the technical documentation for the system has been lost or was never formally created. The Technical Architecture Knowledge Base Project aims to bridge this knowledge gap by analyzing the current Salesforce environment, conducting interviews with key technical stakeholders, and building a comprehensive technical architecture knowledge base.
The Technical Architecture Knowledge Base Intern will play a key role in documenting and mapping the current Salesforce system architecture and its integrations with other IT systems. This position will require strong analytical skills, technical curiosity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include:
What you'll be doing
System Analysis and Documentation:
Conduct an in-depth review of the existing Salesforce environment to understand its structure and components.
Document key architectural elements, configurations, and customizations.
Interviews and Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with the Salesforce Development Team and other IT teams to gather undocumented technical insights.
Conduct interviews with technical experts to document system design decisions, integrations, and dependencies.
Technical Architecture and Process Mapping:
Develop detailed technical architecture diagrams that illustrate the system's structure and integration points.
Create process maps outlining critical workflows and business processes within Salesforce.
Knowledge Base Development:
Organize and compile findings into a structured Technical Architecture Knowledge Base (KB) for future reference.
Standardize documentation formats to ensure long-term usability.
Presentation and Reporting:
Present key findings and recommendations to the Salesforce Development Team and IT leadership.
Provide suggestions for improving documentation practices moving forward.
What you will need to be successful
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of Salesforce architecture or other CRM systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.
Ability to conduct and synthesize technical interviews effectively.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Preferred experience with Salesforce administration, development, or integrations.
Preferred fmailiarity with API integrations, system diagrams, and process mapp ing tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Miro).
