Ecolab Inc Sensor Research Manager in Eagan, Minnesota

Ecolab is recruiting for a Sensor Research Manager within the Equipment and Connected Solutions (ECS) team. As part of the Research, Development and Engineering (RD&E) group, this position supports all business units of Ecolab, a globally diversified technology / service company, creating a dynamic, challenging, and varied work environment.Challenge yourself to create innovative sensor platforms, dispensing and communication solutions that enable valuable IOT for our customers. This position requires strong technical leadership skills and the ability to communicate and interact across technical discipline / business leadership at all levels of the organization. Also, the ability to coordinate and collaborate with remote resources and teams, and managerial skills to lead highly technical associates is critical to success. What You Will Be Doing: Collaborate with project owners, program managers and business development teams to define requirements for new product offerings. Identify novel sensing solutions to address business needs that implement new technology or adapt off-the shelf sensors to meet required product cost and performance targets. Work closely with engineering, software, and data science teams located in Naperville IL, Eagan MN, and other global locations to ensure appropriate resourcing for projects. Develop and manage a team of talented scientists and engineers to support strategic RD&E needs. Coordinate and communicate issues, concerns, and progress on projects and technical developments to assure consistent alignment between stakeholders and senior RD&E management. Lead technical road map planning and strategy development of sensor technologies in alignment with business unit strategies and needs. Develop sensor platforms that can be leveraged across multiple divisions. This position is located in either Eagan, MN, or Naperville, IL. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, optical, physics, or materials engineering or a related technical field and 8 years of experience, MS and 5 years of experience, or PhD 3 yeas of experience 5 years of experience actively developing embedded or discrete sensing technologies leading to commercialized products 3 years of experience direct management of technical resources Experience analyzing and working with incomplete information to advance technical solutions and projects. Experience collaborating and communicating with a wide range of functions and levels within the organization No Immigration Sponsorship Available for this role Preferred requirements: Masters / PhD degree in a relevant technical field 8 years of experience leading technical functions and activities Experience with rapid prototyping of embedded sensing concepts using development tools such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives, negotiate approaches and deliverables, and achieve agreed to outcomes. Breadth of experience with sensing technologies including optical, magnetic, acoustic, electrochemical, etc. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to build talent, teams, and organizations that support and deliver strategic initiatives.
