Position Summary
Corrects daily punch errors using absence slips, sign-in sheets, or other support documentation.
Assists with workflow coordination and provides guidance and training to coworkers.
Audits payroll reports for completeness before final pay processes, and assists in transmission processes.
Verifies and approves data entry of personnel and accounting information entered into EBS by other employees.
Assists in training new staff members and unit supervisors on payroll processes and procedures, and participates in outreach programs.
Assists in the development of new staff procedures in technical areas of limited complexity.
Provides first level support for time keeping system software and hardware for internal and external users, monitors processes, identifies and resolves errors, program loads and schedules jobs using automated software scheduling, and provides related technical support.
Generates correspondence and other clerical support such as initiating supply orders, reconciling monthly expenditures and drafting procedures for review by supervisor.
Assists in performing and troubleshooting system interfaces.
Processes and audits hiring and timekeeping documents for accuracy and authorization.
Audits payroll interface reports to ensure personnel and timekeeping information uploaded properly.
Assists in determining appropriate eligibility and/or procedures for various employee groups.
Stays abreast of current policies, procedures, and practices that impact processing.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approvedremote work agreementto work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired thorough a high school education; one to three years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in maintaining accurate records, data entry and using word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing and/or presentation software; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications
One to three years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in typing, filing and reconciling accounts
May require experience using Campus Solutions
Desired Qualifications
Experience in using word processing, spreadsheet, database and desktop publishing. Attention to detail, work with frequent interruptions.
