Job Description

Nidec Motor Corporation is seeking an entry level Project Manager to lead project activities for multiple motor development projects.

Job Description

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the preparation, coordination, reporting and completion of motor development projects with internal and external customers.

The PM applies current project management techniques, practices, and tools to lead team efforts during all process groups (Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing) of company projects.

The PM works directly with stakeholders to define project needs and lead a team to complete designated projects, successfully meeting all scope, resource, and schedule expectations.

The PM guides team members through a New Product Development (NPD) process to meet all requirements, provide required documentation, and generate regular status updates throughout the project lifecycles.

The PM manages project communications activities including team meetings, mandatory reviews and project reports. Project reporting includes creating detailed schedules with key milestones, performing risk identification and analysis, making earned value progress assessments, providing test results and compiling lessons learned logs.

PM responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Define project responsibilities, monitors and controls the progress of projects and provides regular status reports.
  • Ensure projects meet schedules, costs, quality and customer expectations.
  • Track BOM and drawing progress, quote and order prototype parts and tooling, complete Appropriation Requests.
  • Coordinate NPD with Product, Manufacturing, and Quality Departments at other global facilities during prototype and initial production builds.
  • Align and satisfy Customers NPD standards and requirements with NDS practice.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan, maneuver, and accomplish project goals while remaining aligned with the company's mission and vision.
  • Promote and maintain high ethical practices and standards at all levels.

Preferred requirements:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Project Management.
  • 2-4 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing (or related field).
  • Engineering or manufacturing team-based project management experience.
  • Familiarity with current project management practices, documentation and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with electric motor concepts, mechanical design, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Able to coordinate with internal and external purchasing, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings including G.D.&T.
  • FMEA, DFM, & PDM experience is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Project, and SharePoint.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Range: 62K-83K Annual DOE
