Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC lathes and mills, be proficient with hand tools and measuring instruments, and be able to read blueprints and schematics.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications.
Review setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece.
Attach fixture to machine bed and position and secure work piece in fixture using clamps, bolts, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as rules and calipers.
Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles using hand tools, or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines.
Load control media, such as disk, tape, or punch card, in machine control console or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database.
Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and start machine.
Observe and listen to machine operations to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
Change cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
Measure work piece for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
Notify supervisor of discrepancies.
Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
Machine materials other than metal such as composites, plastic, and rubber as needed.
Instruct other workers as needed.
Use statistical process control techniques.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with CNC Mill and CNC Lathe operations.
Ability to work with blueprints and schematics.
Familiarity with set-ups, off-sets, speeds, and feeds.
Experience with programming and editing.

Work Environment
Current openings include positions for both 1st and 2nd shifts, with hours of 7:00am-3:30pm and 4:30pm-1:00am respectively. Optional overtime is encouraged, with 5 hours on Saturdays and Sundays (Sunday is double time). This is a mix of job shop and production machining center, with runs typically ranging from 20-70 pieces, but occasionally up to 300+ pieces. The parts are very complex and require close tolerances. Attire includes steel toe boots, safety glasses, and a team uniform (provided).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eastlake, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
