Position Summary
As a Senior Packaging Engineer with Energizer- Global Auto Care business, you will work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to deliver packaging and/or display solutions for a robust pipeline of innovative automotive aftermarket products. This role supports cross functional teams by using their technical abilities, strong knowledge of packaging materials, and understanding manufacturing processes. Projects beginning at conception through global launch, will include the following aspects of packaging; unit and case packaging, unit loading, including POP displays, their development, and data entry.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership in supporting Package Development projects focused on new product innovations, line extensions, cost savings, etc.
Manage assigned Package Development projects, working with Marketing and project teams, to meet category objectives and project ship dates.
Must have the ability to mentor and lead other packaging team members.
Work with vendors, plants, and co-packers to assure package components are of a high quality, sustainable, and efficiently produced on packaging lines.
Hold discussions during packaging team meetings; communicate technical issues and details to the project team and management.
Provide packaging options. Develop, engineer and test packaging components and modify as necessary to meet: customer requirements, functional parameters, cost targets, manufacturing, and shipping requirements.
Provide technical input to package design process and assure package designed for manufacturing acceptability.
Execute new package designs and perform package component testing and qualification, working with suppliers, from engineering prints to making models/prototypes, through to unit and production tooling.
Lead package development trials by working with cross functional teams such as R&D and Operations and deliver functional specifications timely.
Must be able to organize and document data to ensure accurate dimensional, weight, and BOM data is entered for effective SKU management.
Must be able to work in data management software’s (like Smartsheet, Teamscenter, etc.) for organizing product data.
Project Management
Prioritize and organize workload on multiple projects of medium to high complexity.
Develop and implement schedules and ensure the engineering procedures are followed.
Manage projects, monitoring the status of all elements affecting the outcome of the project, ensuring project deliverables are met.
Communicate technical and non-technical information via verbal presentation and in writing with management, team members and support personnel.

What we are looking for
Required skills
Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
5+ years of package development experience
Data and document organization
Knowledge of dimensional, weight, and BOM (Bill of Material) data for effective SKU management
Utilize Microsoft Office applications and data entry into ERP systems (such as SAP)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Effectively interface with cross-functional groups at all levels of the organization
Detail oriented in a fast-paced environment
What we prefer
Master’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
Experience in case and carton component design/development or related packaging industry requirements within consumer products
Project management experience with high volume SKU’s
Knowledge of packaging standards, test procedures and best practices
ArtiosCAD, TOPS or CAPE Palletization Software, and SolidWorks
General understanding of Bill of Material & Units of measure setup
Knowledge of stage gate project management methodology
Experience dealing with packaging material suppliers
