Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer will work with the Quality Manager to provide technical process support for production and engineering teams. This position shall:
Support plants with statistical methods (e.g. SPC, DOE, capability studies) and execution of improvement projects
Support Quality Management System (QMS) activities, such as performing process audits, updating SOPs, revising FMEAs and Control Plans
Assist plant with yield improvement projects and various training requirements
Responsibilities:
Facilitate or participate on improvement teams directed at resolving repetitive or complex problems.
Support plant improvement efforts, as needed (e.g. improve QMS, documentation, problem solving capabilities)
Utilizing a process approach, evaluate existing practices and conduct gap analyses against international quality system standards and existing procedures; develop and propose modifications to close the gaps
Facilitate statistical process method training for plant personnel; become an SME of the plant SPC system
Validate process and product changes to ensure desired results are achieved and sustainable
Assess measurement systems to ensure process robustness and develop improvement plans where needed
Disposition non-conforming product and achieve plant KPI targets
Education and Experience:
Bachelor\'s degree required, preferably in science or engineering discipline, other degrees are acceptable with 3-5 years of QA, engineering, or relevant manufacturing experience
ASQ CQE or CMQ/OE certification or willingness to achieve certification within two years
Experience in GFSI/BRC/ISO certified or FDA regulated workplace a plus
Plastic injection molding or rigid container manufacturing experience a plus
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong computer skills (Excel, Minitab, ERP systems, Power BI, etc...)
General understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to train others
Knowledge of statistical and qualitative analysis
Expertise in process improvement principles and a structured approach to problem solving
Knowledge and thorough understanding of systems auditing (GFSI/BRC/ISO, etc...)
Action oriented with a strong ability and desire to enact effective change
