Arnot Health Compensation Analyst - Hybrid in Elmira, New York

Job Description

The Compensation Analyst plays a key role in the development and administration of compensation programs, with a particular focus on supporting strategic initiatives within the organization. The role involves facilitating compensation alignment between Cayuga and Arnot, conducting benchmarking and equity analysis, and ensuring consistency in compensation practices across the two organizations. Additionally, the analyst will provide day-to-day compensation support, manage compensation-related requests, and assist with the integration of new roles following organizational changes.

Key near-term responsibilities include supporting compensation analysis during the affiliation process, conducting market analyses, ensuring internal equity, and managing compensation adjustments for retention and role upgrades. The analyst will also assist with the reorganization efforts, including job title standardization and compensation structure evaluation, while ensuring compliance with exemption status and job grading. Over the longer term, the Compensation Analyst is integral in maintaining competitive compensation strategies, improving efficiency, and contributing to organizational success in delivering on our Total Rewards strategy. In addition to compensation duties, over the near term the individual will assist in supporting the Workday implementation, ensuring accurate compensation data and system integration during the transition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*1. Defines, conducts, and prepares proactive and ad-hoc compensation analyses and communication materials.

*2. Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.

*3. Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.

*4. Conducts data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.

*5. Provides guidance on job evaluations, pay recommendations, related policies and practices.

*6. Reviews compensation exception requests, factoring in analyses, internal equity, external competitiveness, and other considerations.

*7. Maintains, reviews, and updates salary and pay structures.

  1. Responsible for tracking and implementing employee retention incentives.

    *9. Works across multiple data sets, including the HRIS system, pay related applications and databases, surveys, and other sources of information. Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.

  2. Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.

  3. Serves as a resource to managers, Human Resources, and Administration regarding compensation issues and compensation market trends.

  4. Participates in annual and ad hoc salary surveys.

  5. Responsible for on-going documentation of processes and guidelines related to compensation.

  6. Analyzes business processes and makes recommendations to increase efficiency and make productive use of resources.

  7. Audits system data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity; prioritizes and acts on resolving data integrity and security issues and finds opportunities for continuous improvements and standardization for supported applications.

  8. Facilitates wage adjustment communication, implementation, and record keeping.

  9. Responsible for tracking, applying wage adjustments, and ensuring accuracy of compensation for employees holding multiple positions.

  10. Serves as a backup to the calculation and administration of annual increases.

  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION:

    Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Required: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in compensation analysis.

    Preferred: Three (3) or more years of experience in job evaluation, market analytics, or compensation design.

    MS Office, with advanced Excel skills strong preferred. Analytical and quantitative skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:

    No CPR required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Light physical effort, typical office job. Frequently lift 15 lbs., occasionally lift 25 lbs.

    EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

    Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
