SVP, Private Banking

Job Description:

Summary:

Responsible for managing client financial circumstances with a focus on maintaining a strong relationship between the client and the bank. Review client's current financial matters by gathering information regarding total assets i.e. property and business interests, bank accounts, investments, debt obligations and learn about their financial goals. Builds trust, retain confidence with key business partners in branches, mortgage, trust, and all other business lines to ensure that the personal relationship team addresses a 360-degree view of the affluent clients’ unique financial needs. Work closely with Wealth Management Team to cross-sell other products and services.

Generates loan and deposit growth through the sale, promotion and referral of products and services. Generates leads and referrals to acquire new private banking clients through profiling ancillary banking relationships, referral sources and community visibility. Manages a portfolio of clients by meeting with clients as needed and providing exceptional customer service. Builds trust and retains confidence with strategic business partners in branches, mortgage, trust, and all other business lines to ensure that the personal relationship team addresses the specialized, comprehensive needs of high value/high net-worth clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies for acquiring new Private Banking Clients through internal and external sources, organization/community involvement and market research.

  • Consult with clients and prospects and utilize internal strategic partners to provide customized solutions and an exceptional level of proactive client service and responsiveness based on the unique needs and expectations of the Private Banking client.

  • Act as “Quarterback” for Private Banking clients as appropriate within the bank to bring together key strategic partners with specialties in a manner that is best coordinated for the Private Banking client.

  • Annual production goals are typically 15-20% higher than other private bankers with an average of 200+ clients in individual portfolio.

  • Sell bank deposit products and consistently achieve established annual goals.

  • Provide mortgage and consumer credit solutions.

  • Cross-sell other bank products where appropriate.

  • Monitor the credit quality of existing clients and be proactive in the management of credit quality issues.

  • Take ownership as needed of the Private Banking client’s personal relationship – and coordinate as needed with the manager(s) of any ancillary relationships they have with the bank to maximize service efficiency.

  • Generate loan and deposit growth in accordance with bank policy and procedure.

  • Ability to understand and interpret various legal documents, such as, court orders, letters of testamentary, trust documents, durable power of attorney, bank disclosures, new accounts agreements, etc.

  • Demonstrate strong sales and leadership skills within the team and other business partners.

  • Mentor and advise less experienced team members.

  • Participate in bankwide activities including community activities to promote private banking.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications :

  • Proven ability to cross-sell other banking products, including wealth, deposits, mortgage and loans.

  • Excellent understanding of bank products and services.

  • Must have excellent communication, presentation and tactful interpersonal skills.

  • Minimum of seven or more years of Private Banking experience.

  • Superb people skills to work within a collaborative team environment and successfully develop and retain client relationships.

  • Ability to analyze financial information and make recommendations, provide introduction to key business partners.

  • Ability to interview customers and understand requests

  • Self-motivated to work independently and take ownership.

  • Effective time management and organizational skill are required.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Must maintain confidentiality of client transactions and financial records.

  • Good phone voice with professional and well-groomed professional appearance.

  • Strong working knowledge of regulations, compliance standards, market trends and products related to the banking industry.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university; or seven to ten years private banking experience.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $149,503- $224,254. Amount is based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.
