NANA Regional Corporation Water/Wasterwater Treatment Operator - Pogo Mine, AK - Rotational in Fairbanks, Alaska

Job Description

The Remote Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of the potable water and the wastewater systems. Potable water production, treatment, and distribution, as well as wastewater collection and treatment must be maintained in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining and submitting water and wastewater compliance records.

  • Perform testing and analysis to facilitate process control changes to assure compliance with standards, regulations and permit limits.

  • Stops unsafe work and performs thorough risk assessment before every job.

  • Report and correct unsafe conditions or hazards.

  • Inventory materials and maintain at specified levels and reorder as necessary.

  • Offload bulk chemicals used for plant operations.

  • Assist in all operation documentation prcesses.

  • Operate wastewater equipment.

  • Performance facility maintenance as outlined by clientand contract.

  • Perform routine tasks such as repairing leaks and minor repairs.

  • Attend safety meetings.

  • Notify leadership if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years related experience will be considered.

  • Vocational training and/or previous maintenance experience in a similar position.

  • State of Alaska wastewater certification I. Level II or higher preferred.

  • State of Alaska water treatment certification I. Level II or higher preferred.

  • Must have basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office and contract specific software.

  • Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for scheduled rotation.

  • Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The employee must regularly lift, move and /or carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. Steel toed boots required on the job.

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid identification is obtained and verified.
