The Principal Solutions Architect will be trusted to support technical aspects of the project, help with complex security requirements capture, solutions architecture, system design, and technical project management

In this role, you will apply technical expertise across multiple disciplines, understanding our client’s technical drivers, and consulting on the best approach to achieve them. You will demonstrate your know-how to solve major technical challenges and provide leadership for technical innovation. You will be expected to pick-up multiple tasks, support workload when demand spikes, and consistently deliver while meeting expectations for quality and deadlines.

Our work depends on a Principal Solutions Architect joining our fast-paced program that develops cutting edge IT products and services, designing and building an innovative, cost-effective, and efficient cloud centric solution in Windsor Mill, MD. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, define, promote and oversee larger or more complex strategic solutions/architectures

  • Design and develop technical solutions based on existing technologies

  • Act as the lead for the translation of business objectives and requirements into functional solutions

  • Lead, mentor, and work closely with teams of developers and junior solution architects in order to deliver high-quality products and services

  • Take a pro-active approach in identifying system improvements, including data flows, services, and system integration patterns

  • Analyze and/or define detailed data flows through the system, with the emphasis on data ingestion, validations, error handling, storage, and dissemination

  • Present design to technical leads, management, and external stakeholders

  • Engage and drive detailed design with technical leads and developers

  • Lead brainstorming sessions and identify areas for process improvements

  • Prepare and document testing requirements as well as all test data

  • Prepare high-quality design documentation, including visual diagrams and processing flows

  • Maintain System Design Documents (SDDs)

  • Prepare high-quality internal and external presentations in Power Point and other tools

  • Actively contribute and explain ideas in technical meetings

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or 4 additional years of equivalent experience

Required Experience:

  • Strong understanding and experience with Microservices architecture

  • Experience with Domain Driven Design

  • Experience working in a cloud environment

  • 7+ years of experience as a Solution Architect on a multi-tier distributed system. This experience must include end-to-end in system analysis and design

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Python, and/or open-source design and development

  • 5+ years of experience providing solutions based on Enterprise Integration patterns, Event Driven Architecture, web services, SOA and Microservices

  • 5+ years of experience designing and integrating custom software components and processing frameworks

  • 5+ years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL

  • 5+ years of experience with application servers and containers such as NGINX, JBoss, Tomcat, WebLogic

  • 5+ years of experience with performance optimizations such as improving scalability, availability, demand, continuity, etc.

  • 2+ years hands-on experience solutioning in public cloud/private cloud/PaaS experience

  • 2+ years of experience in architecting application resiliency at component level and for Disaster recovery

  • Health Care Industry or Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) experience

Desired Skills:

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Application Development or OpenShift Administration

  • AWS Solution Architect Associate or Professional certification with hands on experience

  • Experience with NoSQL databases

  • Experience with SAFe Agile Process for Government (A4G)

  • Experience with RESTful services, using NodeJS or J2EE

  • Expert level Visio and UML diagramming

  • Knowledge of 12 Factor Apps

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills

  • Professional demeanor and ability to work independently

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
