Cutsforth, Inc. Quality Engineer in Ferndale, Washington

Role Overview: The Quality Engineer works with the Product Operations Manager to evaluate products and ensure predetermined quality standards are met; develops and updates testing-related documentation, including test cases, plans, and flaw-reporting procedures.

Role Qualifications:

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is based out of Ferndale, WA and is in-person.
  • Successfully pass background check for cybersecurity access requirements.
  • Successfully pass post-offer pre-employment functional employment testing (Fit-for-Duty Testing).

Essential Functions:

Inspect Work In-Process Product for Conformity:

  • Prepare and complete receiving inspection reports on incoming product to ensure vendor compliance.
  • Perform regular work in-process inspection of components made by production staff.
  • Conduct final function testing of both mechanical and electrical products.
  • Identify production issues and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Document any non-conformances found during work in-process inspections.

Develop and Update Quality Documents:

  • Maintain records of inspection.
  • Write and edit quality procedures for specific processes in collaboration with appropriate partners.
  • Work with Engineering staff to write and edit assembly work instruction documentation to ensure product and process quality.
  • Execute tests and tabulate results to aid in disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Adhere to Cutsforth's Quality Policy (see document A-500-GA-001)
  • Analyze product design to ensure stability and quality.
  • Document and compile observation data for future analyses.
  • Manage and maintain test case procedures and implement automated testing processes when possible.
  • Analyze products to find design flaws and estimate product lifespan.
  • Make recommendations to improve product durability.

Lead ISO 9001 Site Audits:

  • Execute ISO 9001 training and ensure conformance.
  • Meet with staff to review and prepare for upcoming audits.
  • Organize improvement efforts based on internal audit discoveries.

Design Gauges and Tooling to Increase Quality:

Identify quality risks associated with production/assembly processes.
