Reference #: 4588376 THE POSITION Are you a skilled masonry professional with a passion for teaching? The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy is seeking an ambitious and highly-motivated individual to join our team as a Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor! In this position, you will supervise and instruct inmates in a structured classroom and an on-the-job training program in the masonry trade. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching inmates the practices, methods, and procedures of the masonry trade at a journeyman level through demonstration, explanation, and close supervision during training and work assignments. You will use diagrams, charts, illustrations, manuals, and blueprints to instruct inmates, as well as demonstrate and explain the methods, procedures, materials, and tools used in the installation, construction, repair, inspection, and maintenance of various masonry structures and surfaces. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the order and discipline of inmates during work assignments, as well as reviewing and inspecting their work for adherence to standards of the masonry trade.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40-hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of experience in laying brick, blocks, and other types of building materials, and binding with mortar to construct or repair walls; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the masonry trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the masonry trade.

Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania is required. You must meet thePA residency requirement.
