Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Maintenance Department

FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

Position

Summary:

Ensures that the plant maintenance system is fully developed,

documented, implemented and compliant with all applicable safety and

quality standards including TS16949 and ISO14001. Responsible for

effective Preventative Maintenance preventing wear, damage and

unexpected downtime of machines. Supervise the Maintenance and

Tooling team members. Accountable for all parts, equipment and tools

needed to ensure that the department has the ability to effectively perform

preventative, routine and emergency maintenance to completion. This

position will devise, develop, implement, and evaluate all maintenance and

tooling functions applicable to the facility.

Essential

Functions:

• Oversee and supervise Tool & Die, Maintenance, Electrician and

Fabrication team members.

• Ensure that production machines, supporting equipment and the facility

have effective preventative maintenance performed, and that all

equipment is prepared for safe and efficient operations.

• Train team members in the MP2 Preventative Maintenance system,

preventative maintenance documentation, maintenance scheduling and

work order program.

• Conduct follow up verification inspections as required ensuring full and

complete performance of the Preventative Maintenance team members

with the scheduled tasks and procedures.

• Assist in developing Preventative Maintenance programs for

implementation through MP2 on all new equipment in the facility,

derived from manufacturer recommendations and any lessons learned

from similar equipment.

• Develop routine and preventative maintenance visual aids to assist in

better performance of the plant preventative maintenance system.

• Understand, track, monitor and report ongoing and specific equipment

status, including evaluating priorities and responses.

• Evaluate emergency maintenance in a formal way including downtime,

root cause, status of repairs and corrective actions (EWO).

• Develop predictive maintenance procedures for high value, high wear

and high risk components.

• Develop spare parts inventory procedures including reorder points and

fiscal controls while adhering to budgetary requirements.

• Initiate and track purchase orders from development of need to

completion of all projects.

• Work with Materials/Accounting to ensure the most effective use of

company resources and provide tracking information as required.

• Develop and implement strategies to standardize machine components

and support tooling standardization.

• Manage the manuals and documents for all machinery.

• Utilize Fontana Production System methodology to improve and

streamline activities.

• Recommend methods for improving labor efficiency and reducing waste

of materials and utilities, such as, reorganizing workflow, relocating

workstations and equipment, new process evaluation and purchase of

equipment.

• Participate and or lead Six Sigma Project Teams in improvement

activities.

• Understand, lead and participate in 8D problem solving methodology.

• Actively utilize, train and pursue 5S methodology in all activities.

• Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to further

education, knowledge of field and improve efficiency and value.

• Implement training and personal development plan as required for Tool

& Die, Maintenance, Electrician and Fabrication teams to ensure

necessary technical skills to support plant operations.

• Develop goals and objectives, and conduct performance and

disciplinary counseling as required.

• Act as a member of the Plant Health & Safety Committee.

• Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.

Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, IDEM and other applicable rules, regulations

and procedures. Exceptional supervisory skills. Ability to problem solve,

multi-task and close issues. Working understanding of tooling, fabrication

and design. Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems,

hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ideal candidate would also have

working knowledge of cold heading processes, finish line plating, heat treat

furnaces, transport, ventilation and HVAC equipment. Ability to utilize PC

databases, schematics and CAD systems software. Working knowledge of

preventative maintenance software systems.

Education: BS degree preferred or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or

equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: 3-5 years of successful maintenance supervision or management in a cold

heading manufacturing environment preferred.

Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required

to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee

frequently is required to talk and listen. The employee is required to stand,

walk, sit, climb and reach with hands and arms. The employee must

occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities

required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and

the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the

employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is

occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and low intensity

acidic, caustic and petrochemical fumes.
