Heartly House, Inc. Child Counselor in FREDERICK, Maryland
CHILD COUNSELOR
This is an exempt, full-time position (35 hours per week) that reports directly to the Clinical ServicesDirector. This position may require off-site client work at any of the Frederick County Public Schoollocations.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide weekly individual counseling sessions to children who are victims of (or have witnessed)intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and/or child abuse
- Provide weekly group counseling sessions for children who are victims of (or have witnessed)intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and/or child abuse
- Build and maintain relationships with Frederick County Public School personnel to support clientneeds
- Participate in clinical review of cases and present cases for review during team meetings
- Participate in the planning, development, delivery, expansion, and evaluation of counselingservices
- Maintain professional standards of conduct and practices in all aspects of direct client services
- Provide input into the counseling department strategic and operational plan
- Be available as needed for consultation with other departments regarding clients
- Provide appropriate referrals to clients to obtain additional needed services
- Ensure client records are up-to-date, complete, and accurately filed, and are closed, as needed
- Ensure client records are maintained in complete confidentiality and protection of client rights
- Understand and commit to the mission, values, and philosophy of Heartly House and the effortsto end intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Clinical Services Director
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or PhD in Clinical Psychology with Maryland licensure in good standing, with preference given to licensure at the independent clinical level
- English and Spanish fluency is preferred, but not required
- Preferred minimum of two years experience working therapeutically with children and families
- Strong clinical background and skills, including individual and group facilitation skills
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to effectively use computers, including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and databasesoftware
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and priority setting ability
- Expertise in intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and/or child abusepreferred
- Successful completion of Heartly Houses agency onboarding training within probationary period
Salary: $57,931 - $66,212 per year, plus benefits
