Job Summary and Qualifications

The Vice President (VP) of Quality and Resource Management reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and has full responsibility for Quality and performance across the organization. The VP is responsible for comprehensive performance measurement/improvement activities that include publicly reported measures, facility-wide quality reviews, Patient Safety activities, Infection Control, Clinical Documentation and Regulatory Compliance. The VP Contributes to the company’s mission and vision by supporting and coordinating performance improvement activity for the campus of SRMC and manages the activities of the program in conjunction with the leadership team.

Assures the integrity and accuracy of publicly reported measures.*

Leads organizational Patient safety initiatives.*

Directs investigations of never-events, hospital acquired conditions and proactive FMEA activities.*

Data analysis and performance improvement programs.*

Oversees activities to directly improve patient outcomes and meet/exceed VBP measures.*

Recommends actions when system or individual performance issues are identified.*

Works with Medical Staff Services to develop and maintain FPPE and OPPE profiles on physicians and integrates that information into the credentialing process in compliance with state and federal agencies, Joint Commission and/or other accrediting bodies, and institutional requirements.*

Serves as mentor to hospital and medical staff departments in facilitating and supporting their quality management activities.*

Directs efforts to ensure effective Quality program and Performance Improvement implementation throughout the facility. Provides guidance to facility employees/management in complying with the requirements and intentions of the program.*

Provides leadership to drive work for clinical improvement and service enhancement. Supports centers in preparation of meaningful reports to the facility Quality Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and Governing Body.*

Acts a chairperson for center’s Quality Improvement committee, as directed.*

Prepares and submits minutes from all meetings; as directed.*

Develops and implements programs, initiatives, and improvement strategies to ensure consistency in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and other governmental requirements. Ensures that required state/federal reporting is completed in a timely manner.*

Assists leadership and Quality personnel in development and maintenance of annual Quality plans, policies and procedures.*

Assists in preparations of metric reports and development of meaningful improvement plans. Participates in Quality Monthly and Quarterly Operating Reviews.*

Facilitates effective communication with leadership regarding key clinical performance improvement activities and initiatives.*

Responsible for facilitating investigation, required reporting, and corrective action development for serious quality issues within the facility. Accesses company resources as appropriate. Facilitates completion of Root Cause Analyses.*

Responsible for the oversight for the facilities with preparation for accreditation, regulatory, and QRS surveys. Maintains knowledge base and acts as a resource to centers in related accreditation standards. Assists centers with development of action plans as needed.*

Maintains awareness of laws and regulations, keeping abreast of pending and or implemented changes. Represents company position in the advocacy for appropriate development and/or modification of regulatory matters.*

Provides education to employees and Medical Staff and supports ongoing education related to Quality and patient privacy laws as they relate to HIPPA/HITECH.*

Meets regularly with center Quality staff and CDI specialists and encourages shared learning.*

Participates in the orientation of new employees to Quality initiatives. Reviews complaints, concerns, or questions relative to quality issues, and provide consultative leadership and support to facilities personnel as appropriate.*

Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.*

Directs loss control/loss prevention activities and reports results to senior administration.*

Supervises the statistical trending of losses and analyzes patterns.*

Designs and implements surveys, studies, and special projects to assist in long-term planning and changes to facility policies and systems that reduce risk and losses.*

Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times.*

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Three (3) to five years (5) years progressive hospital leadership experience with three (3) years at a director level or above

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements

  • A strong foundation in the following areas: clinical knowledge, performance improvement, management education, staff development/supervision, organizational awareness, data analysis, and verbal and written communication

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Prior experience in Quality and/or Risk Management

EDUCATION

Required

  • Master’s degree in a health related field or completion of Master’s degree within 12 months

LICENSURE

Required

  • Licensed in Virginia as a Registered Nurse. If out of state, must hold Virginia Licensure or meet appropriate Compact guidelines upon start date.

Preferred

  • CPHRM or CPHQ
