BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Quality Manager is responsible for investigating problems and coordinating corrective actions. To be a liaison to customers and suppliers on quality and reliability issues.

The Quality Engineer coordinates, administers and performs the quality function of an engineering and technical nature to ensure product quality and reliability at minimum quality costs

Responsibilities:

  1. The Quality Engineer manages the advanced product quality planning process for new model launch.

  2. Write and implement procedures for gage and inspection standards, engineering changes, product audits, standardized work and any other quality related functions.

  3. The Quality Engineer supervises quality technicians and CMM Technicians in all quality-related functions.

  4. Evaluate proposed changes in design , process and materials to current specifications.

  5. Investigate problems and coordinate corrective action and follow up with customers and suppliers on countermeasures.

  6. The Quality Engineer assists suppliers in developing quality systems which will improve quality and cost.

  7. Customer contact for any problems, design issues, countermeasures and responsible for written verbal communications to all pertinent personnel.

  8. Review technical publications to determine possible application of new methods, techniques and equipment.

  9. Analyze reliability and quality performance through statistical analysis

  10. Completion and documentation of all phases of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.

  11. Prepare and submit all necessary PPAP documentation per AIAG guidelines.

  12. Develop gauge concepts and procure gauges for specific programs.

  13. Work with component and tooling/equipment suppliers to improve products and resolve -manufacturing problems. This may involve travel to the specific customer or supplier location.

  14. Participate in Simultaneous Development Teams (SDT's).

  15. Participate in internal audits as required.

  16. Train Quality and Production personnel in Quality requirements relating to specific programs.

  17. Support the Product Introduction Process through all phases of prototype fabrication and delivery.

Shift : 1st shift (M-F, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)

Required experience : 3 years + related experience

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree with statistical background or certified quality or reliability engineer through A.S.Q.C. or 3 to 5 years experience in quality control or quality assurance.
