Vail Resorts Principal Analyst, Infrastructure - Public Cloud and Automation in Utah,

Job Summary:

We are searching for an architect, technical lead, and Infrastructure subject matter expert with experience in Public Cloud (Azure), Infrastructure Automation, Containerization and mobile payment architecture to join the Application Infrastructure Delivery team within the Core Infrastructure organization in support of Vail Resorts’ Strategic Initiatives.

Responsibilities include providing technical solutions to business, IT projects and initiatives, while creating and driving standards and roadmap development and ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards. Your work will directly contribute to providing the Experience of a Lifetime for our guests and employees.

Job Specifications:

  • The budgeted range starts at $99,900 - $135,120 + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall architecture guidance and long-term vision for the infrastructure team in support of enterprise objectives. Contribute to strategic vision by providing subject matter mastery within overall Infrastructure of Vail Resorts processes, tools, and technologies.

  • Lead project intake assessments to inform technical design, level of effort, resource requirements and ultimately solution delivery. Assessments span highly conceptual planning through detailed execution plans.

  • Engage and consult directly with managers, developers, project managers, business analysts, business stakeholders, contract developers and vendor consulting partners on the development and support of projects and enhancements within the overall Infrastructure realm.

  • Lead and direct the work of contractors, contract services and/or managed service providers as part of a flexible resourcing model.

  • Contribute to the delivery of multi-year technology roadmaps ensuring proper documentation and alignment.

  • Act as escalation point for the most critical operational issues.

  • Expertise and experience in providing automated solutions within an infrastructure environment looking at the entire footprint to determine where manual effort reduction opportunities exist with the ability to also drive implementation of high-quality automated solutions.

  • Ensure all changes in configuration, hardware and software follow the appropriate process, adhering to all appropriate controls along with providing technical support and expertise as needed.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve, implement standards and develop documentation within the Vail Resort’s technology ecosystem while socializing and partnering with other teams and stakeholders.

  • Mentor other analysts both inside and outside of the direct team.

  • Take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high-energy positivity and enthusiasm

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field. Work experience and/or certifications may substitute for a degree.

  • 10 years of infrastructure experience, supporting datacenter technologies such as: compute, virtualization, storage, backup, authentication, enterprise networking (route, switch, firewall, etc.), end-user computing, database, container (Kubernetes) or DevOps technologies.

  • 5 years of experience in lead role responsible for Azure enterprise environment

  • Direct implementation experience with Terraform Cloud and Octopus

  • 2 years of experience in a team lead role or equivalent management experience within IT Infrastructure.

  • 2 years of experience with SOX, PCI, HIPAA, or similar compliance requirement, including vulnerability remediation

  • 2 years of experience working on projects in a waterfall/Agile/etc. framework.

  • Demonstrated continuous learner.

  • Experience working in an operations role.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Relevant certifications are desirable (Azure, AWS, GCP)

The successful candidate will have a superior, service-oriented approach to infrastructure operations and solid technical infrastructure experience including architecture, engineering, and cloud deployments.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $99,900 - $135,120 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
