United States Steel Process Manager I - Operations in Fairfield,

13048BRJob Description:Fairfield Tubular Operations has an immediate opening for a Process Manager – Hot Mill Operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring the safe operations of assigned process within the FTO Hot Mill while maintaining all USS Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize management skills to supervise, direct, and coordinate the efforts of a team of experienced technicians to operate, repair and maintain equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimal interruptions while producing quality production.

  • Perform and oversee administrative activities such as scheduling and paying employees, completing production reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as required.

  • Lead and perform continuous improvement activities and/or projects that reduce safety and environmental risks, improves quality performance and operational efficiencies I the assigned processes.

  • Maintain an awareness of the condition of operating equipment.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and arrange equipment repairs with assigned maintenance personnel and management team.

  • Communicates, directs and facilitates the overall operation of the assigned process with support and direction from Hot Mill Leadership

  • Ensures accountability, engages employees, promotes teamwork and responsibility.

  • Ensures consistent productivity and cost

  • Due to the nature of our business, the facility operates 24 hours/day. Therefore, this position may require weekend and/or holiday work.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or technology, or equivalent work experience is required

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a supervisor working in a unionized, manufacturing/industrial environment is preferred.
