Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor, this position is responsible for assisting with the inspection of in-process and final products using a variety of measuring instruments and visual analysis.
Primary Job Responsibilities
• Inspects and conducts tests of products and in-process parts to evaluate quality or performance using the following equipment: specialty outside-diameter gauges set with master gauges, specialty inside-diameter gauges set with master gauges, micrometers, height gauges, hardness tester, densimeter and computerized equipment to verify shape; and by sectioning parts with a cutoff saw and mounting and polishing them for microstructure analysis by other personnel.
• Visually inspects parts for defects such as rust, chipping, grinding scratches, etc. Makes sample molds for metal testing.
• Performs chemical testing.
• Performs and records measurements of sample valve seats for production.
• Retains samples and data for lot control.
• Troubleshoots performance issues with testing equipment in lab and in production.
• Reads, understands, and interprets data produced from testing, and takes corrective action when necessary to ensure a quality product.
• Consults with management to resolve quality issues.
• Produces results reports, including tables, charts, and graphs to make the determination for corrective action on the production processes being investigated.
• Prepares work instructions and procedures for lab testing.
• Works to continuously improve in all areas of productivity, cost, safety, quality, and employee relations.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and secure work environment following the Company 5S guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs dock audits, capability studies, product audits, sorting or other related duties as requested by the QC Supervisor.
