Job Overview:

Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem-solving and teaching. Maintains all necessary QC, QA and documents required by accreditation agencies. Will assist physician tableside with all invasive procedures and post-processing and may participate on call.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Science OR graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program OR graduate of a Health Science program

Preferred:

  • Minimum of three to five years experience within specialty

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Current Active CRT License for Radiologic Science

  • Current active ARRT status as a registered Radiologic Technologist

  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS

  • Advanced Certification in Interventional Radiography VI ARRT or Cardiac Interventional CI ARRT or Cardiovascular CV ARRT is preferred but required in Interventional Radiology

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift

  • Part Time

Essential Functions:

  • Serves in the role of scrub tech assisting the cardiologist, radiologist or vascular surgeon during cardiovascular/interventional procedures

  • Promotes a team approach both inter and intra-departmentally

  • Performs the job duties of a procedural technologist; performs pre-procedure preparation, and post

  • Work with staff to ensure proper supply availability

  • Delivers care in an empathetic engaging and caring manner; routinely acts as patient advocate

  • Demonstrates leadership abilities and stimulates others to work productively and efficiently

  • Contributes toward improving cost-effectiveness and productivity

  • Projects a good image in dealing with the public and is willing to make extra effort to help build a quality and caring institution

  • Maintains proficiency with unit-specific equipment, troubleshoots and reports malfunctions properly including but not limited to the X-ray equipment and hemodynamic monitoring equipment

  • Utilizes downtime constructively and proactively seeks opportunities within the unit

  • Ability to monitor and document using the Merge system for all procedures

  • Assists/scrubs with diagnostic/interventional procedures

  • Replenishes and changes supplies in assigned area as needed

  • Other duties as assigned
