DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role of Invasive Plant Ecologist within the Bureau of Forestry (BOF) - Division of Forest Health (DFH) involves leading the invasive plant management program on state forest land. This position also entails collaborating with various stakeholders and states in the northeast and mid-Atlantic region to coordinate efforts in invasive plant management.

As the Invasive Plant Ecologist, the primary responsibility is to ensure the effective management of invasive plant species within state forest land. This includes developing strategies, implementing control measures, and monitoring the impact of invasive plants on forest health.

In addition to overseeing the invasive plant management program, the Invasive Plant Ecologist plays a crucial role in fostering partnerships with other stakeholders and states. By working collaboratively, this position helps to coordinate efforts in invasive plant management, share best practices, and address invasive plant issues on a regional level.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. This position requires travel to field locations and meetings throughout the state, with occasional (1-2x/year) travel out of state to related conferences/meetings. This position is eligible for an alternate work schedule (AWS). Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a Forester; or Two years of experience as a Forest Nursery Assistant Manager; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license, of the proper class for the vehicles operated, as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
