Description

The Swimming Pool Cashier is a seasonal position with no benefits and a preferred hiring rate of $15.96 per hour. These seasonal positions are expected to last from approximately May 2025 through early September 2025. Applicants who are not available to work through the entire period are still encouraged to apply for consideration.
As a Swimming Pool Cashier, you'll:
Conduct the daily operation of the Westover Pool's office;
Supervise the safe use of the bathhouse building;
Ensure the general safety, health, discipline, and enjoyment of the patrons;
Work with a computer-based point-of-sale program;
Perform other related duties, as assigned.
The ideal candidates for this role will be able to handle mathematical computations accurately , provide effective and efficient customer service , and perform administrative support work for the daily operation of the Westover Pool office.
Physical Requirements: This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of the tenth grade, at least 16 years of age, and minimal experience in a customer service position required. High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within the first three months of employment.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed, is preferred. This position will require an average of 15-35 hours per week, based on candidate availability.
The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
Drug screening; and
Criminal background check.
This position is subject to the City of Harrisonburg's random drug testing program.
