HEBER CITY CORPORATION Parks, Cemetery, Trails & Open Space Foreman HEBER CITY, Utah

The newly created position of Parks & Cemetery Foreman performs a variety of project management and supervisory duties related to strategic planning, organizing and coordinating the maintenance of the City's Parks, Cemetery, and Trails & Open Space. Maintaining infrastructure, resources, safety compliance, and grounds & lawns grooming. Performs various technical tasks related to assigned projects and areas of responsibility, ensuring the high maintenance standards established by City Council for Parks, Cemetery, and Trails & Open Space. Collaborates and works with Public Works supervisors, City stakeholders, elected officials, citizens and visitors.

Leads the Parks and Cemetery teams to schedule and provide superior quality, maintenance, and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;

AND

  • Eight (8) years of experience performing related duties; two (2) years of which must have included progressive supervisory responsibilities.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in understanding and maintaining safety regulations; ability to work with hand and heavy power tools required to install and maintain irrigation, Parks, Trails, and sustaining foliage.

Ability to successfully operate computer equipment and applicable software applications including Microsoft 365, and City Works platforms to effectively communicate, record, and issue work orders

Ability to articulate and write Staff Reports, reporting and presenting to City stakeholders.

Ability to lead a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Public Administration, Project Management or related field.

Fluency in both English and Spanish or ASL.

Ability to work variable shift schedules, on-call and emergency response.

Work Environment:

Conditions are typically performed in both a climate-controlled indoor office as well as an outdoor environment, subject to changing and seasonal weather extremes. Frequently, tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting; potential exposure to fertilizer, and weed abatement chemicals. Effective communications, attention to detail, delivery of verbal instructions, discriminating thinking, proactive anticipation of issues, and creative problem solving are required.
