The School Finance Division is responsible for the collection of school district reported financial transactions and the information necessary to account and report the operations of Montana public school districts. The Division is responsible for the implementation of Montana statutes and administrative rules, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and standards and compliance with the Federal Code of Regulations in alignment with US Department of Education guidelines. The State Pupil Transportation Specialist position plans, coordinates and directs the state’s funding program that provides over $11.9 million in transportation aid to K-12 school districts, which is maintained and functions through the web-based Pupil Transportation Reporting System. This position aids with pupil transportation safety, represents the interests of the pupil transportation industry, promotes school bus safety and efficiency.
