SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The role of the advanced practice provider will help the division of Inpatient Pediatrics provide care to a growing general inpatient pediatric population. It will help us maintain provider: patient ratios, on the resident service, which are ideally 10-12 patients per attending. This will require each FTE APP approximately 1840 hours per year/12-14 shifts per month.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The APP team will be self-contained team of several providers who will provide care to sick general inpatient Pediatric patients (0-18 years old). The job will require the team members work together to provide seamless day and weekend coverage. This will include national holidays that are recognized by the organization.

  • Since it is not anticipated the APPs will have to work nights, the day time APP will be expected to obtain sign out from the overnight resident team and provide sign-out to the overnight resident team.

  • Team rounds will occur with an attending, bed side nurse and patient/parents, as part of our commitment to providing family centered rounds.

  • Progress notes and billing must be completed daily

  • Discharge summaries should be completed within 24 hours of patient discharge.

  • The cap will be 8 (10) patients for the APP.

  • Help cross-cover resident team on Thursdays from 12-4pm during their academic time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing with clinical specialization required.

  • Two years work experience as a RN required.

  • Current licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.

  • Must have demonstrated effective skills in consultation.

  • Certification as an NP in the area of practice specialization is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Preferred
