SUMMARY OF POSITION:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Adult Clinical Nutritional Support and Endobariatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team. This role involves delivering comprehensive care for adults undergoing nutritional support, endobariatric interventions, and the evaluation and management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The APP will be responsible for patient assessment, developing and implementing tailored nutritional plans (in collaboration with our licensed dietitian), and providing expert care in enteral nutrition. Key responsibilities include performing physical examinations, managing enteral feeding tubes, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and also working with our MASLD and endobariatric patients. The role also involves educating patients on dietary modifications and staying current with advancements in nutritional and endobariatric practices. The APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to include interventional radiology and hospitalist medicine to offer a range of treatment options and procedures.

Duties Checklist :

  • Patient Assessment :

  • Perform physical examinations and make patient rounds.

  • Assess patients' nutritional needs and develop tailored nutritional plans.

  • Evaluate and manage patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), including diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management.

  • Enteral Nutrition Management :

  • Insert, troubleshoot, and exchange enteral feeding tubes (nasogastric, nasoenteric, gastrostomy, jejunostomy).

  • Ensure accurate and aseptic placement of tubes.

  • Identify and resolve issues related to tube functionality, patient tolerance, and potential complications.

  • Manage transitions between different types of feeding tubes based on patient needs.

  • Patient Education :

  • Educate patients on dietary modifications, particularly in relation to MASLD, and nutritional support.

  • Monitor patient progress and provide ongoing support.

  • Collaboration :

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  • Collaborate with interventional radiology to provide treatment options and procedures.

  • Continuous Education :

  • Stay updated on advancements in nutritional and endobariatric practices, as well as MASLD management.

  • Participate in ongoing education to enhance skills and knowledge in enteral nutrition, endobariatric procedures, and MASLD.

  • The Division of Gastroenterology and the Department of Medicine will provide educational material and support as needed for career development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of Pennsylvania required.

  • National Certification in Pennsylvania or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in Pennsylvania required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Relevant experience preferred.
