Overview: *We are located in Highland Township, not Highland Park (hour difference). Midwest Glass Fabricators, Inc. has recently been acquired by Industry Leader, Old Castle Building Envelope. Glass fabrication is an awesome craft to learn. You will learn how glass moves through our plant and how to safely handle glass while maintaining an effective pace. Our plant is packed with employees and machinery that make amazing products from shower doors, deck railings, bullet resistant glass, and more! Position glass in machinery or on tables for hand tool use Load and unload glass manually or utilize lifting cranes, harp carts, and a-frames for safe movement of glass Inspect glass to carry out our high-quality standard Communicate with other employees throughout the day as well as following through with shift employee expectations Monitor glass moving through equipment to ensure glass is moving promptly Utilize bar code readers, calipers, tape measure, and other tools to ensure quality standards and identify any defects Other duties as assigned Requirements: Employees at OBE are expected to have regular and predictable attendance, work independently with little direct supervision, aptitude to learn and understand and willingness to cross-train in other areas as required. Lift up to 75 pounds Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk, and reach frequently Ability to stand and walk on concrete floor for eight hours or more Ability to wear company-issued PPE such as safety shirt, hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protection Noise levels in the work environment can be moderate to high. Ability to work in varied temperatures Must be at least 18 years old Shift hours may vary by department and production needs
