WDI Part-Time Greeter in HIGHLAND PARK, Michigan

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Part-Time Greeter is responsible for assisting with all phases of customer services at the SEMCA Michigan Works and will provide additional support for the full-time greeter position. The Operations Director also supervises the part-time greeter. This position will also gather information from and provide information to job seekers, employers, and customers who are contacting the SEMCA MWA in person and by telephone. The part-time greeter will also share knowledge of all programs, events, and resources available through the MWA and its partners, be well-versed in the services available, and be able to educate customers about the various opportunities. The Greeter will also assist customers in completing the necessary applications for the various programs and direct customers appropriately to resources and staff on and off-site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • * *Greets visitors in a friendly, professional manner as they enter the SEMCA MWA and offer
  • Provides customers with the appropriate information, applications, and forms with complete instructions and assistance as necessary.
  • Answers telephone calls, routes calls to staff accordingly, and provides general information to callers regarding hours, location, services, programs, scheduled events, and partner services in the SEMCA MWA.
  • Assists staff with scheduling customers for appointments, workshops, and SEMCA MWA
  • Maintains an accurate filing system for required hard copy records, including performing data entry into the designated database system, storing hard copies in appropriate files, retrieving documents and data as needed for staff, and directing customers accurately.
  • Maintains order in the SEMCA MWA lobby area, including posting posters, informational flyers, and marketing materials per supervisor's instructions, removing dated information, and replenishing handouts as they become depleted.
  • Provide support and assistance for customers to increase their job search opportunities and awareness of services available and encourage engagement in programs and events.
  • Refers customers to workshops and other training opportunities in the SEMCA MWA or the local
  • Must keep updated on various events in the SEMCA MWA, the agency, and the community; maintaining updated knowledge of the relevant rules, regulations, program changes, workforce development opportunities, labor market climate, and job search resources to assist customers.
  • Assists customers in searching for job openings via the Internet and resources available in the Resource Room.
  • Provides general information and refers employers to the Business Service Representatives for assistance with registering and posting job openings on the Pure Michigan website

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and three years of experience as a customer service or office receptionist.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow directions.
  • Extensive computer operations skills, including knowledge of using Microsoft software and the
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be comfortable speaking with and relating to a diverse customer base in various situations.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Must adapt to various customer situations and possess strong interpersonal skills to assist customers in meeting their objectives while complying with applicable regulations regarding record accuracy and service documentation.
  • Strong written communication skills. Proven ability to articulate thoughts clearly on paper with proper grammar and punctuation, as well as the ability to apply language rules.

     

     

Hourly Wage: $16.00
