Job Description
BAE Systems Integrated Defense Solutions (IDS) business is seeking a highly skilled and strategic technical Project Manager to join our engineering and technology team. You will play a crucial role in driving the success of our organization by leading streamlined operations to accelerate innovation and support sustainable organizational and business portfolio growth. The position will be central in the refinement and execution of the company s engineering and technology strategies and operations. The selected individual will gather and analyze data, assess market trends, support the development and execution of strategic technology roadmaps, and provide insights and recommendations that inform key decision-making processes that advance the company s strategic position to win business, disrupt competition, and accelerate successful execution of customer mission objectives.
IDS is a Business Area within the Intelligence & Security (I&S) sector of BAE Systems Inc. The Project Manager will report directly to the IDS Senior Director for Strategy and Engineering Technology and will be a member of the IDS technical leadership team. The role can be based at one of our BAE regional offices and will require regular travel to the I&S headquarter offices in McLean, VA as well as other sites and customer locations.
Specific responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to:
Execute critical initiatives and strategic projects across the IDS engineering technology portfolio including defining, establishing, executing, and managing objectives, timelines, stakeholders, partners, customers, and resources; all while maintaining a strong and regular cadence of project monitoring to ensure successful outcomes
Provide insights and recommendations that inform key decision-making processes that advance the company s strategic position to win business, disrupt competition, and accelerate successful execution of customer mission objectives
Support the development and execution of the strategic technology roadmaps that provide the strategic direction for investments and developments of innovative technologies and capabilities; strategic direction that will serve as a guide for responding to changes across the industry
Identify and implement business process improvements to include streamlined workflows, optimized resource allocations, leveraged technologies and tools, and strong cross-functional collaboration and communication
Synthesize complex information into concise and actionable presentations helping leadership make informed decisions with greater speed and accuracy
Provide strategic guidance, research, analysis of industry trends, and act as a collaborator for idea creation
Foster collaboration across the Strategy & Engineering Technology Team and drive further collaboration across the IDS business area and I&S sector
Facilitate effective communication while working closely with a variety of technical and P&L teams ensuring alignment of goals and objectives promoting organizational alignment, agility, and a fail fast, fail forward cultural mindset
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
BS in technical or management-related discipline
Secret level security clearance
A minimum of twelve years of experience with a BS; ten years with a MS
Thorough understanding of industry best practices in engineering services development and management processes
Experience in proposal processes and development
Excellent intellectual and analytical capabilities, pragmatic problem-solving skills, strong communications and influencing capabilities, a robust strategy and change management toolkit, and a passion to effect change across the organization
Strong communication skills including experience in developing executive presentations
Collaborative work style/leadership presence with ability to effectively interact with and earn trust of peers and senior management across the organization
Project and process management skills including proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Executive presence; self starter with a keen sense of ownership and commitment to the work and a passion to deliver results
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Post-graduate degree in technical or management-related discipline
Knowledge and experience working in DoD technical services industry
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $127900 - $217400
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
