General Overview
An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of material handling equipment for the Pulp and Paper Industry. Servicing a globally installed base that is over 60 years old in some cases. The Spare Parts Sales Group is responsible for customer account management and continued support of an existing installed base, and newly installed equipment. The product line includes Pulp Bale Conveying, Wrapping, and Processing equipment, Paper Roll Handling, Wrapping, and Processing equipment, Waste Bale Dewiring equipment, and Wood Handling equipment. As such, the spares include components such as custom fabricated steel frames and brackets, sprockets, chains, belts, electrical devices, along with pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, and related hardware. The members of the Spare Parts Sales Group are the sole point of customer contact and are involved in all facets of the sales process, including processing quotation requests, processing orders, part and component costing, providing quotations to customers, and ongoing customer relations and communications.
The Spare Parts Sales Associate reports to the Spare Parts Sales Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as the sole point of contact for all spare parts sales and other customer-related inquiries.
Vetting spare parts inquiries and assisting customers with verification of requested components or assemblies, including informing customers of obsolete parts and suitable replacements.
Determining part pricing by soliciting quotes from suppliers.
Providing spare parts quotations to customers, with related information such as delivery spans, shipping costs, etc.
Communicating with the respective engineering group when obsolete or unavailable parts are encountered, to identify satisfactory replacements, either via a substitute part or an engineering solution, etc.
Works with all departments (Engineering, Accounting, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Shipping).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Good communications skills, both written, verbal, interpersonal, and listening. Ability to work within a cubicle type environment. Excellent telephone communication skills.
Prior experience in commercial / industrial parts sales a plus.
Some accounting and business background.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Mechanical aptitude / spatial ability with the ability to read machine assembly drawings and individual part drawings. Experience with machinery in general is a plus.
Understanding of the basic terms of commerce with respect to shipping and billing.
The ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and work unsupervised within defined limits of responsibility when needed.
Ability to exercise patience and understanding when working with customers. Both via email and telephone communications. Must be detailed oriented with solid organizational skills.
Good problem solving and reasoning skills.
Desired Skills:
Knowledgeable with QuickBooks.
Computer skills required to work within Customer internet order portals.
Some fluency in Spanish or French a plus.
Other:
Does not require sales reporting or forecasting data tasks.
This position does not utilize "Salesforce" or any similar type of program.
No travel required after successful completion of training.
