DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Effectively and efficiently manage the mechanical maintenance teams to ensure that proper maintenance is performed on critical equipment while minimizing plant interruptions. Ensures maintenance teams are integrated with our plant asset management system. Oversees and manages the day to day operations/maintenance of Lift Stations including but not limited to expenses, labor, managing overtime, and maintenance on all equipment. Manage maintenance fleet of vehicles/equipment to ensure all vehicles are documented, licensed, and cared for in accordance with the City of Houston policy (AP 2-2).
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solution, and/or extensive use of a video display terminal.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergenc y Management position at the Tier I Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Recreation or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional and/or skilled experience closely related to the activities of the section are required, including one (1) of the years in a supervisory experience.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to candidates with training and experience in preventive and corrective maintenance programs related to rotating equipment such as pumps. Experience could include pump repair, alignment, vibration testing, and lubrication.
Preference will also be given to those possessing a Texas driver's license
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
